The tragedies of gangs inflected by gangs on the innocent is as profound as the pre judgements made on the poor. Compelling stiry with O'Henry like ending.
Soto, Maravilla, White Fence, Clover, Lincoln Heights, Logan Heights, to name a few, are the Barrios that cultivate the gang bangers that have chosen the life of crime and all that goes with it. Unfortunately innocent residents remain caught in the cross fire. Some have graduated with honors to the Big house. Many will never see the streets again. Police, prominent clergy, and teachers attempt to turn troubled youth away from the dark side. Sullivan does a splendid job suggesting avenues of approach to remedy community problems.
The book's finish has a " bang up " ending. I'll leave it to the next reader to find out.
